Large-Scale Generation Certificates for Solar Energy
Partner with Ecosaver and start saving on your switch to solar energy.
What are Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs)?
Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) are credits provided by the Federal Government under the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme. The government issues these credits to corporations that work to reduce their carbon footprint and generate a portion of their electricity through renewable sources.
When a business installs a large-scale solar farm, it can earn one LGC for every megawatt-hour of electricity it generates. These credits can then be sold to energy retailers to help with the cost of installation. It’s a win for your corporation and a big win for sustainability.
To be eligible for LGC generation, it’s crucial that you partner with an approved provider like Ecosaver. We’ll take care of compliance on your behalf, ensure your upgrades are eligible, and pave the path to help you attain your LGCs. Kickstart your sustainability journey with our expert team today.

FAQs
The Renewable Energy Target scheme is a federal government initiative aimed at large and small-scale power generators. It allows businesses to attain certificates for every megawatt hour of electricity they generate. Power generators can either receive STCs or LGCs depending on how much electricity their new system generates. Once businesses gain the certificates, they can sell them back to energy retailers for a profit.
LGCs are purchased by businesses or public sector organisations with renewable energy obligations under the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme. By purchasing LGCs, these businesses fulfil their obligations to obtain a certain amount of electricity from renewable sources.
The primary difference between LGCs and STCs is the size of the installation. The government offers LGCs for large-scale renewable energy projects, whereas STCs are reserved for small-scale solutions. In addition, LGCs rely on actual data readings. In contrast, STCs are created based on the expected energy generation of a small-scale renewable power solution.
